Do I really need to hire a Licensed Mold Remediation Contractor or can just any contractor do the remediation?
In the state of Texas, mold remediation is a regulated activity through the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR). Any mold remediation that has more than 25 contiguous mold growth is required by the state of Texas to have a Mold Assessment Consultant (MAC) do an assessment, and protocol for the project. Along with notifying the state, A Licensed Mold Remediation Contractor (MRC) is required. If the project is under 25 contiguous mold growth, State notification is not required. In order to get the Certificate of Mold Damage Remediation (CMDR) you need to have a protocol from a Mold Assessment Consultant and a Licensed Mold Remediation Contractor (MRC). It is always best to have a Licensed Mold Contractor on your project.
